OUR STORY

The Oxonian Tea Company was founded on a simple conviction: that exceptional tea should never come at someone else's expense - not the farmer's, not the planet's, and not yours.

Oxford is a city built on heritage, much like the timeless ritual of tea itself. We founded The Oxonian Tea Company to bridge these two legacies - hand blending 100% organic, artisan teas that capture the prestige and character of our home in every pour.

We saw a market awash in mass-produced blends, opaque supply chains, and hollow claims. So we made a different choice - sourcing exclusively through a supply chain with a proven, decades-long record of ethical practice across more than thirty growing countries, then hand blending with care and standing behind every ingredient we sell.

That supply chain is not incidental to what we do - it is the foundation of it. Every estate it works with is audited against rigorous standards covering fair wages, safe conditions, housing, healthcare, and education. We chose it deliberately, because it reflects exactly what we believe.

Our teas are certified 100% organic to EU, NOP, and COR standards. Organic products never contact non-organic materials at any stage. Annual audits back every claim we make.
We source only through supply chains with a rigorous, documented record of fair treatment, fair pay, and grower audits - covering safe conditions, medical access, education, and housing. We will not compromise on this, regardless of cost or convenience.
Our packaging is plastic-free, plant-based, and certified compostable. High-altitude growing regions mean many of our teas are naturally pesticide-free. We minimise environmental cost at every step.
We hold certifications across food safety, organic production, and ethical trading - including Ethical Tea Partnership membership, and full Kosher, Halal, and Vegan certification.

Where Our Ingredients Come From

India

The source of our black teas and spice botanicals - from Darjeeling's high-altitude estates above 6,000 feet, where teas are hand-plucked and naturally pesticide-free, to the bold, malty gardens of Assam and the diverse hills of Nilgiri and Kerala.
Sri Lanka

Ceylon teas of exceptional character - bright, crisp, and complex. The backbone of several of our black blends, sourced from estates that have sustained their communities for generations.
Kenya

Tea is a continuous crop in Kenya - harvested year-round, providing stable employment across the highlands. Vibrant, copper-coloured teas that lend depth and brightness to our blends.
China

From the jasmine-scented hills of Fujian Province to the ancient gardens of Yunnan - the source of our green teas, jasmine blends, and select botanicals including osmanthus petals.
Japan

Kagoshima Prefecture, Kyushu - source of our genmaicha green tea, produced to Japan's famously exacting standards. A cup that bridges Kyoto tradition with Oxford elegance.
Egypt

The Nile Delta and Fayoum region - home to some of the finest chamomile in the world, and a key source of the hibiscus and rose petals that appear across our herbal blends.
Chile & South Africa

Wild-harvested rosehip from small family farms in Patagonia, and rooibos from the Cape — two whole ingredients that bring warmth, depth, and natural sweetness to our caffeine-free blends.
USA, Thailand & Turkey

Peppermint and spearmint from Washington State family farms; ginger and lemongrass from the highlands of Petchabun, Thailand; and rose buds from the valleys of Turkey - botanicals chosen for purity and provenance.
